I have a wonderful quirky wedding for you, which may inspire you, especially if you’re deep in the throes of planning a wedding or are going back on forth on what kind of a wedding you want. Let me tell you about the wedding of D+K, which was split over two days… On Day 1 they had originally planned to have an intimate ceremony on Belle Isle. Unfortunately the weather was not cooperating,so five minutes before walking out the door they decide to get married under a bridge on the Dequindre Cut (essentially a cycle path that goes for two miles from the River to Eastern Market). It was perfect. The small gathering of guests kept dry, the joggers and local workers cheered as they went past and the lighting was amazing . After a short but sweet ceremony the guests departed, sadly the rain didn’t so we went from one bridge to another as well as popping into the Fisher Building. Day 2, the weather was much better. The sun shone as we skirted the edge of Midtown for a leisurely walk, chatting about how their weekend had been and stopping here and there if there was some cool light, or an interesting location to play around in. D+K caught up with friends and Family in The Old Miami, Detroit’s King of dive bars before an evening cocktails and great food at the Selden Standard. It was a somewhat surreal but magical couple of days and just a fabulous relaxing way to ‘do a wedding.’ They also put an emphasis on giving themselves plenty of time to get pictures in some of their favourite spots, which from my perspective was a dream. Here are some highlights. Cheers D+K!!
