This was day two of Sharmila + Ayo’s wedding weekend, one might have thought that it would be difficult to live up to day one, but it did and more! It was a dream to finally shoot a wedding at the Detroit Institute of Arts.
15 years ago when I first visited Michigan (before I moved here) Grace took me to the DIA. I was completely blown away by the architecture and art collections and so subsequently I make a point of taking family and friends who are visiting from out of town. It never disappoints.
It was such a treat to incorporate the artwork and architecture of the museum into S+A’s pictures. This was something I dreamt of during that first visit in 2009. Their ceremony surrounded by the murals of Diego Rivera was jaw droppingly spectacular.
Friends and family had travelled from all over the world to celebrate this very special couple. So, after two days of rituals, blessings, parties and celebrations it no longer felt like an event, but a grand, living art piece where love, laughter, and a touch of artistic flair came together to create a masterpiece of their own that will long live in the memory.
