A gorgeous Northern Michigan wedding, tucked away in wine country. Warm sun, golden fields, and the soft scent of summer in the air. Cherry Basket Farm was the perfect setting—quiet, elegant, and full of charm.
This was one of those days that felt like a dream to photograph. Jack Hoyle Photography captured all the details—sunlight dancing through the trees, teary-eyed vows, and a packed dance floor. The kind of wedding that made me fall in love with capturing weddings all over again.
Cherry Basket Farm – A Hidden Gem in Northern Michigan
Cherry Basket Farm is a venue that wraps you up in history and nature. Nestled among cherry orchards and winding dirt roads, it offers a quiet intimacy that’s hard to find. The barn’s original wood beams and whitewashed walls create a timeless backdrop.
Ceremony beneath the trees, cocktails on the lawn, dinner outside, surrounded by nature. Everything flows naturally here. It’s a space that lets couples relax, be present, and truly celebrate with their people.
What makes this venue extra special is the love and care that Alena and Andrew have poured into it. Every detail—from the landscaping to the layout—has been thoughtfully restored to honor the land and elevate the experience.
They’ve also begun a beautiful tradition: each couple gets to plant a tree on the property. Over time, a whole grove will grow—a living, breathing memory of all the love that’s been celebrated here. It’s one of those rare touches that makes the place feel even more meaningful.
All the Feels, All Day Long
This wedding was packed with heart. Carolyn and Jon poured their personality into every moment—from handwritten vows, locally grown florals and so many other intentional details.
The vibe? Pure joy. Kids running around, hugs all around, guests chilling by the fire pit, or dancing barefoot in the barn. It was the kind of day people talk about for years.
A Leelanau Peninsula Wedding Dream
If you’re dreaming of a Leelanau Peninsula wedding—or anywhere in Northern Michigan—you’d be hard-pressed to find a more enchanting location. The soft rolling hills, the cool lake breeze, the quiet magic of being surrounded by nature.
This region gives weddings a sense of place. It invites you to slow down, breathe deeply, and remember what the day is really about. And it photographs beautifully—every corner of light and shadow, every passing cloud over the orchard. Cherry Basket Farm has so many great locations for pictures, from the wildflower field to the beautifully renovated farm stand. It was a dream to take pictures there.
Your Story Deserves a Setting Like This
At the end of C+J’s wedding I drove away feeling like I’d photographed the wedding of old friends. Despite it being the first time I had photographed a wedding at Cherry Basket farm it felt so familiar, so warm, welcoming and full of soul. I can’t wait to go back.
